Null Planets

Null planets are dead worlds that exist throughout the galaxy. Usually too toxic to terraform, they are left devoid of life. Buoys are left around the more unstable planets warning passing ships of possible hazards. In an attempt to dodge imperial taxing some companies have tried mining null planets, but the cost of decontaminating ships and cargo make the venture unprofitable for most. The most common use for null planets is as dumping sites for near by space stations and corporate campuses.
